McKenzie Frye is a Detroit, MI native and Howard University graduate with a B.F.A. in Musical Theatre. Within her primary years of technical development in classical ballet and modern dance, Ms. Frye would very early on earn Pre-Professional scholarships to participate with both The (Judith) Jamison Project and The Dance Theatre of Harlem. After her first semester at Howard University as a Broadcast Journalism major, Ms. Frye would soon change her major (per the suggestion of Mike Malone) to Musical Theatre, receiving her first professional theatre offer her junior year directly from Debbie Allen, and that same year being awarded the "Dr. Andrew A. Allen (Debbie Allen and Phyllicia Rashad established) Triple Threat Scholarship.Ms. Frye's Off Broadway/Regional credits include: WIG OUT!, RIVER DEEP, DAMN YANKEES, ABK for LIFE, DREAMGIRLS, CROWNS, and The Kennedy Center's production of HARRIET'S RETURN starring Debbie Allen, as well as, work in New York City's acclaimed Public Theatre. Her Film and TV credits include "My Brother," "Life Lines," "Law and Order, " Law and Order: SVU," AND "Law and Order: Criminal Intent." She currently serves as a collaborating artist in residence with Gabrielle Lansner and Company, and is co-creator of the multi-media performance piece BLACKGIRL UGLY; a spoken word, movement and mixed media performance piece that is dedicated to taking an honest look at media influences that encourage the development of unhealthy self esteem in young women. In doing so, BLACKGIRL UGLY resolves to explore the choice to nurture ones self through artistic outlets. Ms. Frye is also in the process of completing her first book of that she hopes will encourage positive thought, healthy self expression and the pursuit of spiritual success." McKenzie looks forward to continued contributions to the arts as a performer, writer and source of positive motivation.

"The worst boyfriend I ever had once asked me what I thought my best physical attribute was. After taking what I presume he thought was too much time, he rushed in and impatiently said "Its your eyes and I bet you never even realized it!" He'll never know how his impatience empowered me that day. Unfortunately, he released just a little too much information, because after that, my pupils began mastering laser beam focus and blowing his overpowering ego to smithereens with a stream of death stares. Death stares are kryptonite to Douche Bags. My newfound power began to make him feel uncomfortable...but so what?!? I'm sure he wished he could take it all back, but no one likes an Indian Giver."
